What did I do during the Pandemic? I read Ulysses, what did you do. My second U22 listening has been inspired by the (early!) delivery of the Cambridge addition of Joyce’s masterpiece, which any lover of the novel must find indispensable and delightful. My practice has been to read an episode while listening to the RTE Players podcast tha U22 recommends, then listen to the companion podcast Reading Ulysses with Fritz and Jerry, then top it off with Catherine et al. Essayists and interviewees from a rich palate of cultures spice the stew, taking the experience up a degree. I find the presentations to be scholarly and insightful yet approachable. I have now enjoyed Catherine and Emily’s podcast through Circe twice, the second reading to assure that I had given full attention after taking extensive notes the first time.
